Book One, Chapters 5-7
1. What is the problem with obtaining razor blades?
They are temporarily out because they can be.

2. What is revealed about Inner Party philosophy in the discussion between Winston and Syme?
If people can't express them selves or think complex thoughts then they can't rebell. So BB is killing off language

3. Why does Winston feel that Syme will be vaporized?
He thinks Syme will be because he is to smart
4. Parsons brags about his children for doing what?
He says that his kids are perfect in every way(acceptable) and they are great spies

5. What is the significance of the telescreen announcement? (p. 51) 
It shows either how little the populous actualy listens to what is actualy being said, or just don't care and life just goes on

6. What are Winston’s feelings about the present time after he hears the cheerful announcement on the telescreen?
He is like big woop, he also knows that it is untrue
7. Winston predicts that certain people will be vaporized and that certain people will never be vaporized. Who? Why?
Mrs.Parsons will be vaporized because her own children will denounce her, Syme would be vaporized because he is too smart, himself, because he thinks that sooner or later they will catch him, O'brien will be vaporized because he supposedly thinks the same way as Winston, Parsons wont be vaporized because he's a giant kid, All the other brain washed people wont be vaporized, and the girl with the dark hair wont be vaporized because she is perfect in this society and very well might be a member of the Thought Police

8. What is the purpose of marriage in the state?
Just to "do their dute to the Party" and have kids
9. What do Winston’s memories about visiting a prostitute reveal about his attitudes towards sex in Oceania?
It is seriously messed up. you can't have a relationship with someone you like.
10. How does Winston view the proles?
He views them as people who will be able to over throw big brother because there are more proles than party members and so they can be open about it.

11. How are the proles controlled (prole control)? since the quote in the book says "proles and animals are free" 
They are controlled by having them work long days

12. What lies/half-truths does the Party teach about history?
BB's existance, capitalists, and wars
13. Winston suspects that the Party lies about progress made since the war. What Party claims does he doubt?
More food, clothes, better houses, and better recreations

14. What is the story of Aaronson, Jones and Rutherford?
They were leaders of the revolution but were forced to confess to crimes they didn't comit, they are released and a little bit later they are executed

15. Why is this story so meaningful for Winston?
Its meaningful because even though its just memory he remembers something that actually happened.

16. What is Winston’s unanswered question?
He doesn't know why
Book One, Chapter 8

1. Why does Winston go off on his own? What activities is he missing out on?
He goes off on a walk because he doesn't want to go to the activities center, a bad time with people he doesn't like
2. What is life like in the proles’ end of London?
They live in the slums and talk different

3. What does Winston think about after his conversation with the old man in the pub?
He is useless do to old age
4. What does Winston discover at Mr. Charrington’s shop?
Winston finds a blob of glass and pays four bucks

5. What is Mr. Charrington like? 
nice old guy

6. What does Winston think when he sees the dark-haired girl outside Mr. Charrington’s shop?
Winston thinks that the dark haired girl is following him and spying on him

7. How does one’s own body betray a person?
The body may always freezes

8. Why does Winston wonder about church bells ringing in London?
Because he can sort of remember them and he hasn't heard them in a long time
